General French

Firstly, the current general French Language Diploma course that we offer follows the curriculum and model proposed by the Alliance Française. Thus it conforms to The Common European Reference Framework for Languages (CERFL), which is a standard bench mark for foreign languages. Additionally, it is internationally recognized.

French for Specific Objectives (FOS)

French Classes in Zambia

French for Beginners

What’s more, we now have French for Beginners course. This course is designed for you if you do not speak French at all. It usually covers 120 hours to complete French level A1.

As a result, when you complete French for Beginners course, you should to undertake some tasks as described in Level A1. (see below).

Under the French for Beginners course, you will learn greetings, introducing yourself, introducing someone, the alphabet + letters combination, nationalities and countries. In addition, you will learn professions, numbers, giving personal details (address, telephone number, email, age), filling a form, ordering for food and drinks.

Still, other topics include holidays, seasons, describing a city (jobs and places), asking and telling your way or direction and much more.

Learn French Online

Did you know you can now learn French online from the comfort of your home of office? Obviously, due to the rapidly changing modern learning landscape, we have adopted online French classes for busy professionals, or if you are constrained by distance and time. Therefore, the Online French classes are designed to ensure you catch up with your French lessons from wherever, and whenever. Don’t miss out!

DELF / DALF Exams

We regularly organize  internal examinations. In addition, we prepare students for international examinations such DELF/ DALF. France Education International, formerly Centre international d’études de Paris, CIEP, offers these French exams.

The DELF and DALF are diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education to prove the French-language skills of non-French candidates.

There are six independent diplomas, which correspond, respectively, to the six levels of the Council of Europe’ s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).

After  taking your French classes in Lusaka, we encourage you to sit for the DELF or DALF tests. These tests are internationally recognized.

Levels

At Level A1 (Beginners), you can recognize and use familiar words and simple phrases for concrete purposes. You can introduce yourself or someone else. Moreover, you can ask and answer basic questions about home, family, surroundings, etc.

Additionally, you can communicate in a basic way when the other person speaks slowly and clearly, and is ready to repeat or reformulate to help communication.

This level is achieved after taking French classes for 120 hours.

Certifies that the student is able to communicate using the language in a basic way in situations having to do with immediate needs or everyday situations

At Elementary level, you can understand isolated phrases and common expressions. They relate to areas of high personal relevance (like personal or family information, shopping, immediate environment, work).

You can similarly communicate during easy or habitual tasks after taking our French lessons. The tasks require a basic and direct information exchange on familiar subjects. Using simple words, you can describe your surroundings and communicate your immediate needs.

This level certifies that you can understand commonly used, everyday phrases and expressions. These relate to areas of experience especially relevant to you. This is to say basic information about themselves, and their families, shopping, places of interest, work, etc.

After completing French classes in Nairobi for Level 1 and 2, you are now an intermediate speaker. You can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar subjects in work, school, leisure activities, etc. Moreover, you can manage in most situations that come up when travelling in a region where the language is spoken.

So, you can san produce a simple and cohesive text in French on familiar subjects or subjects of personal interest. You can also narrate an event, an experience or a dream; describe a desire or goal, and outline reasons or explanations behind a project or idea.

This level certifies your capacity to understand the essence of clear texts, in standard language. This is truer if they involve well-known topics related to work, studies or leisure.

It also certifies your ability to deal with most situations that occur while travelling in areas where French is spoken. You can produce simple and coherent texts about familiar topics, or topics of personal interest.

Lastly, you can describe experiences, events, wishes and hopes, as well as to be able to briefly express opinions or explain your plans.

You are now in Upper Intermediate after completing 180 hours of studying French lessons at Level B1. You can understand the main ideas of concrete or abstract topics in a complex text. This includes a technical article in your user’s area of expertise.

Further, you can communicate with a degree of spontaneity and fluency during a conversation with a native speaker. Both of you can be quite comfortable.

In addition, you can speak in a clear, detailed way on a number of subjects; express an opinion on current affairs, giving the advantages and disadvantages of the various options.

You can produce clear and detailed texts about diverse topics, as well as defend an opinion about general topics. You can express the pros and cons for each argument.

At level C1, you have already taken enough French lessons to be able to understand a wide range of long and complex texts. This includes any sub textual or stylistic nuances. You can express yourself freely and fluidly, without obviously fumbling for words.

Moreover, you can use French language effectively and fluently in a social, professional or academic contexts. You can speak in a clear, organized way about complex subjects, developing a well-structured argument. You can correctly use mechanisms of organization, articulation and cohesion in the text.

This level certifies sufficient linguistic competence to understand a wide variety of lengthy, and demanding texts. Further, you can grasp implicit meaning in the same.

You can also express yourself fluently and spontaneously without apparent effort to find the right words. Additionally, you can use the language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.

Lastly, you can effortlessly understand almost everything that you read or hear. You can make a coherent summary of events or arguments from oral or written sources.

Moreover, you can express yourself precisely in a spontaneous, fluent way, conveying finer shades of meaning precisely.

This level is achieved after competing some 250 hours of French classes at Level C1. It certifies sufficient linguistic competence to communicate effectively in any situation.

You have proven ability to spontaneously adapt to any context, with a high degree of precision. You can show subtle control of nuances which allow for fluent and natural expression in all interactions

Study Options for French Classes

There are several study options to take your French classes in Lusaka tailored to your needs and convenience. For example, some students may want to complete one level in a matter of days. Still, others in weeks while others are comfortable with a slow paced program. This entirely depends on you.

For example, you can take Immersion French program. It will take you 5 weeks to complete level A1. Same applies to French level A2. This is program is ideal if you want to settle in a French language  speaking environment soonest.

If you are busy at work, can take a less intense program like the extensive or standard option. However, this option will take a little longer to complete one level.F
